: Tyler: I have this material on a section of my house. It does seem to work
: well as a roof material. But, even as thin as it is, it's still pretty
: heavy.
: I don't think it would conform well to a boat shape. You can cut and glue it
: but you;d have to put darts all over. It might feel like you were sitting
: in an inner tube?
: I've kept part of roll thinking that it might come in handy for something
: some day but IMHO your frame would be better with poly, nylon,or canvas.
: If you do try it ,I'd love to hear about the results. Part of the joy of
: kayak building for me is designing something that works out of unrelated
: stuff.
: Just as I can't look at a pile of lumber without thinking of paddles and
: strips,
: A walk through an accessory aisle makes me wonder how items could be used on
: a kayak for rigging or hatches etc.
: Ohh, its a weird disease!!
: Terry
Thanks- I admite one reason I wanted to try was because the stuff my uncle has is a bright white, and I thought it would make a striking kayak to put the seam along the keel, with a smooth, white deck.
Do you think putting the seam on the keel would help with its forming?
In a way I'd feel bad covering an all wood frame with something so synthetic....
Thanks again.
