Material: Effective idea for easy varnish removal

Hey, All

I figured out a very easy way to remove varnish and thought to pass it along to anyone needing to do the dirty deed. I found it necessary to remove the old varnish off of the rebuild in order to complete the epoxy work properly. I tried sanding but that was taking too long so my little brain lit up and managed to innovated a little. I scored the old varnish with 40 grit sandpaper, sanding enough to really scratch it up a lot. I then soaked a rag in plenty of acetone and rubbed the varnish with the rag, thereby dousing the varnish with plenty of acetone. After a couple of minutes I sanded lightly with the 40 grit paper and low and behold, I found that the varnish came off like a severe case of psoriasis on a junkyard dog, right down to the epoxy. I figured this job would cost me at least a 6-pack of beer for all the work it would take to sand. Now it's down to only a couple. Now I have four beers to enjoy in front of a fire in my backyard. FYI! :)
