How would you glue and fair it?
In Response To: Material: PVC planking stock (Mark Starr)
I don't even want to imagine using PVC pipe cement for the amount of time required to strip a boat. Fairing could be a real hassle, since PVC melts at a low temp, making power sanding difficult with all but the coarsest grits.
I've cut PVC pipe on table and band saws and it generates an enormous mess (millions of electrostatically charged chips that stick to EVERYTHING) and toxic fumes.
The pine sounds interesting. It may be just the thing for gunwale boards on SOFs. Any idea how the weight compares with white pine?
