Joe,

Sorry for the late response but I was busy using my spruce greenland paddle. It is a bit heavier than cedar but when you a miles away in the boonies and have to almost tightrope along your paddle into your kayak from a weird shoreline the extra strength of the spruce is a welcome friend. And, always carry a spare!

: I am thinking of building a nice wooden paddle but want it not to be too
: heavy. What is the best wood to use for wieght and strength? I understand
: that spruce is good. Is this the same spruce that they sell a Dunn lumber
: in one by material? Thanks for any suggestions Joe.
