: Do you have any more pics posted and will I be able to find
: updates on the BB over the course of ? of months.

Thanks Mike, the easiest way to browse the project is to look in one of my internet directories at www.chipsandresky.com/cedarstrip/images/?M=D There are a lot of pictures there that aren't linked from the main site. You would be able to find links from this BBS from over 25 months ago... what can I say, I build slowly. I wouldn't recommend doing the elaborate inlays; they almost killed me and I know of other builders who started on that kind of detail work and their projects never made it to the water.

: How did you approach the deck modification?

I started by looking at the lines diagram of the deck like the one of Nick's Guillemot Double below. I could kind of tell how the opening would work and which lines the opening would follow. The deck is the top section in this drawing and you can see where you could get a good opening by following that first waterline in from the sheer and then closer to the center as you get to each end. I studied as many pictures as I could. From there it was just a matter of figuring it out as I went. I did a lot of dry fits, see http://www.chipsandresky.com/cedarstrip/images/coaming_1.jpg Next time I would have been more careful on some of the dry fits because I have a few areas that are not perfectly fair. I didn't commit to the open deck until the last possible moment. I would have done a three-holer if the open deck idea didn't work out. Still, there is the possibility of making a drop-in deck insert that would convert it to a regular tandem.
