Yup. I sure did... And as it turns out, I'm glad for the extra height on my footbrace deckbeam. It provides a very comfortable feel, especially as I paddle either bare foot or with neoprene socks. To keep the weight down, I epoxied a block over the "mistake" side, and another over the opposite side to turn the deck beam into a "feature." Check it out at http://renweb.net/matb2003/ Mine is the SOF without the 'S'and the funky ducktail stern. If you take a look at picture P0007595.jpg, you will see what Sean and I am referring to. You'll also see Sean (and my shoes.) I agree with Sean - why sister both sides? You can epoxy or glue one side only and achieve more strength than a perfect single beam.
