Thanks for the kind words Ron. I am having a ton of fun, but the process is slow. On to your questions.
: Do the inlay strips go all the way through the hull, ie are they the same
: thickness as the hull strips, not just veneers.
They are full thickness, well almost - They should have been a little thicker so I had some material to play with to get them flush to the hull. Oh well, it looks good from the outside.
: What sort of timber is the hull stripped in?
Western Red Cedar, Walnut and Basswood (there's a strip of hard maple in each of the stem forms)
: Any chance of publishing the excel spread sheet you used to construct the
: design?
I can send it to you no problem. Its not set to run with a nice user interface (I could make it so - just takes time). You would need to feel comfortable poking around in Excel to use it as is. I've been thinking that it might be fun to post the process on this board - guess maybe I should do that.
:I wonder if it would transfer to Autocad as a set of coordinates?
That should be just a matter of pasting the results in to a text file in the correct format. Once again, its not set up to do that, but should be possible.
: What program did you use to plot it full size?
I just used an XY chart on a spreadsheet and streched it to full size. It took about 20 sheets of paper to print the pattern. Not too bad, but I had to do it twice to get the scale right.
You can e-mail me or reply if you would like a copy.
: Thanks, Ron
You're welcome, Steve
