Had the same problem with s&g a year ago, the kind folks at Pygmy told me to scrape the uncured epoxy off and use lacquar thinner instead of acetone. Didn't evaporate as fast has less imputerity in it. Worked well. Do not coat over the soft epoxy. If it was mixed wrong, it probably will never set up. If you are using pumps for your epoxy make sure there delivering the correct amount of epoxy.
