: I hot glued forms from gunwhale to gunwhale; I'll never do that again! Forms
: came loose from time to time.
Hmm, interesting. I hot glued forms across on my Hybrid Cormorant, and they
held up very well through a lot of stripping steps (I used three different
woods, to make a deck with a half-elliptical section). Perhaps it was that
my forms were a pretty tight fit, as they were also spreading the hull
somewhat. The forms near the ends were actually quite hard to remove after
I'd taken the deck off to glass it - I needed quite a large hammer :-)
: ... no staples ...
or maybe it was that my forms were held in place pretty well by the large
number of staples I used. If there was anything I'd do differently, it would
be to use a smaller spacing for the forms - half a metre would have been OK
if the deck had all been one wood, but was too far to be joining strips in
between the forms.
The left pic shows the completed deck - the part-stripped photo shows the bow
(far end of the left hand pic) after most of the pine strips were added, before
starting the purpleheart and WRC sections
