This ones a bit off topic, but also concerns this KBB and the GTBB.

About 3 weeks ago, my computer started acting up, concerning the Bulletin Boards and I have yet to figure it out. But, it's getting very frustrating.
As most or all of you, when I click a message it changes color to indicate that it's been read. That way I can see where I've read and not read.

For some reason, now, my read messages seem to be coming back as unread after having turned off the computer, or letting it sit in standby mode for a few hours. The REAL problem is, it seems to be random and intermittent. What I mean is, if I leave the computer off for... say.. 3 hours, I will turn it back on to find maybe a dozen messages back on in blue ( those I've already read and had changed to purple ). If I go 6 or 8 hours off and then on, it's more like 20 or 30... If I leave it off for 2 days, they are all back as unread, except the most recently read messages.

I understand that an improper shut-down will cause them all to return to blue ( unread ), but that's not the case. They come back a few at a time until all are listed as Unread, depending on how long it is between visits to the Bulletin Boards.

It's got me stumped and is getting very frustrating to say the least. If I can't sit and read all the messages at a sitting, then next time I come back, the NEW messages are all regular and blue, as are the old unread ones. So, I can't tell what's new and what's been read already...

This does not seem to be common, and I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on the situation that I may be missing...

I'm using Cable modem and Windows 2000, and this has never been a problem in the past, just the last 3 weeks or so... Would a "repair" install of the Windows possibly fix the problem...
