Anthropometrically-scaled, -- that's interesting. I have been thinking along the lines of some design sw that would calculate the best kayak design based on size, weight, intended use, preferences, etc. Kind of like buying a custom bicycle. The user provides all the relevant information and the experts produce a 'perfect' match.

Thanks for the info about the Merganser. I think that is a good compromise and what we want. I second Shawn's and Lee's opinion if the 17LT and Caribou. We consider the 17LT as our 'rec boat'. My wife occasionally has trouble keeping the Caribou on course, even with the skeg deployed. I was also considering a knock off copy of a Romany, but I would like to really paddle one.
