SO, I can just scuff the surface and remove any rough or loose material and paint over it with the LPU? No worries about contamination from the solvent based varnish underneath? That is great news, just unexpected.

Bob "Ootek" Warren sprayed a couple of my boats for me. One was
: sanded down to matte with 120 grit.
: The other had a flow coat of epoxy, which was scuffed with a ScotchBrite pad.
: S3LPU is pretty revealing. The fully sanded kayak took a lot more coats to
: cover up the swirls.
: The flowcoated, and roughed, boat came out shinier and more beautiful.
: If your varnish is well-adhered, I wouldn't try to sand it down to epoxy and
