By too big, I assume you mean too deep, or too wide.

It's not too late to drop the sheer line, or throw a flat aft deck on it.

If it's too wide, you could saw down the keel and make it narrower. You could also pull in the sides...but that gives you straighter tracking and less secondary stability.

It's always easier now than later. You're way early in the game. If you know now it will be too big, it probably will. The more you paddle, smaller and smaller boats feel comfortable.
