As far as sanding... it depends how much glass you (not you Shawn) want to remove. I just finished sanding out a half dozen starved patches from my tandem and, I can tell you, it is a messy job. I basically sanded through the fill coats and then took out the bad glass with a scraper. I was careful not to go all the way to the bare wood so I didn't get splotches when I reglassed. I might consider using a heat gun if I were to take all the glass off; that may be easier than sanding. I guess it depends how far you want to go with it.
