This is pretty much what I did, Kendall. It worked out ok. If I remember what Nick told me correctly, it shouldn't really make any difference either way.

I think it may be a left-over from the original Guillemot Coastal design which had a more complex shape at the bow and stern.
Anyway, mine looks great. I don't have a pic of that exact area but this may give you an indication as how it looks

ps I might get the hull and deck joined this weekend. Here's hoping. Have fun with the building and don't drive yourself too crazy with the little things.
