In some ways it's easier to strip with 1/8" strips. They follow the curves easier and it is easier to plane them for a rolling bevel fit...when you aren't using bead and cove...which I don't know if anybody has done that with 1/8" strips. I certainly haven't. However...you must be MUCH more exacting with your forms, fits, fairing, planing, sanding, etc., than when using 1/4" strips. 1/8" strips require many more clamps and/or clamping methods to keep everything fair and in line. The boat MAY be lighter...depending on one's ability to apply the epoxy/fiberglass, and how many layers you put on. I think an experienced builder for specific reasons can be served well by using 1/8" strips. I think an inexperienced builder would be better served to use 1/4" strips. What the heck...once it's stripped...you could sand aggressively, and end up with 1/8" strips. I'm sure you'll get other opinions. It can be done...and the boat will be beautiful. Have fun.
