My only experience with strips that thin, is repairing boats that have been built with them. If you ever (here's hoping you never do) have to repair it, the likihood that you might sand right through is more likely to happen. If there is any separation in the glass/wood bond, the wood is sure to tear away with the glass. If the boat is cracked, as in my most recent repair, I had to sand both inside and out, and there wasn't much wood left in that area, hence I had to fill the void and add several layers of glass. Luckily, the boat was painted on the bottom, because it would have been near impossible to hide the patch repair.
Just a thought.
