: I posted a question about damage to the Guillemot's 'glass. I think, after
: reading other postings, that it may be print through or post cure?? Which
: is which? How do I prevent it and repair it?
: Thanx, Steve
Hey Steve,
How much glass is in the lay-up where the spots are located? Also, do you have a means for allowing the pressure/suction in your dry storage areas to equlize? Going from 90*+ air temp to cold water temps can create significant suction inside the hatches . . and this is happening while the epoxy is softened from the sun/warm temps. Could this be why the hatch lips pulled in a little? Maybe someone would be interested in connecting a vacuum gauge to their bulkhead and measuring the suction some day???
Could the spots around the coaming be from the(warmed)area flexing when you entered the boat?
All this is just a shot in the dark, but, if we can figure yours out now we can prevent future occurrences. Guess I just answered your questions with more questions, huh?
I have a few spots, like you've got there, on the inside of my deck at the bow which was caused by compressing the glass. The deck had spread a little and I pulled it back too much causing the spots. It didn't seem to take very much pressure for the spots to appear!
BTW, nice job on the hybrid! When I first looked at the pic, I thought,"how did he do that cool, splotchy finish"? Then I realized it was just the shadow from the trees.(figured it was time for coffee!!)
Happy Building.
Charles.
