What, and miss all the fun? I'm working hard to keep the weight down but I'll probably gain a few before it's over. I'm figuring on 5-8 lbs heavier. I may be able to get it lower but that means much more sanding and I'm not sure I want to do that. I'll remove the sheer joint tapes before applying new tapes, that should save me some weight. The truth of it is that I'm not especially worried about weight because the kayak has a large capacity for weight bearing capability. A few extra pounds won't matter. I suppose I could stand to lose some weight, myself, that will make up for anything added to the tare weight of the kayak.
