I considered magnets for my hatch but I wasn't sure how I'd do it. The
hatch is only 1/8" thick. I figured magnets would only work on strippers.
Could you let us know how you mounted the magnets on your cirrus hatches?
I currently have bungies holding down the hatches. You'll definitely want
some kind of pull on the hatch. When I spring the bungies off I spend
several minutes breaking fingernails trying to get the hatches off. Every
time I do that I think, "I've got to add some pulls!" I was planning on
recesses but was concerned again with the fact that the plywood is only
1/8" thick. Maybe I'll do webbing loops.
I also found out recently that I had to move the hardware for my deck bungies.
I'm using padeyes that are just screwed through the deck with nuts on the
inside to hold them on. I found out that one set of them came out exactly
where my feet are - I ended up with matching cuts on both feet from the
bolts sticking through. I tried shorter bolts and different nuts and finally
just ended up moving them.
Chris
: I have installed 3/8" magnets in the hatch lip and hatches on my S&G
: Cirrus. Next is to figure out a mechnism to pry off the hatches after the
: deck and hull are joined. What are the pros & cons with webbing pulls
: vs. finger recesses?
