many thanks for all the input I very much appreciate it. As far as storage of varnish once the tin is open - I followed a tip I think I found on this board- we purchased a can of "air" used to clean computers - gave a 2 second squirt before closing the tin & low and behold the next day there was a vacume "suck" as we opened the tin and there was no skim on the surface. cheers..ian
