: Rob, I would really like to use magnets as a hatch retainer, but also like
: the idea of secondary security, so I would like to follow what you mean
: here.

: Problem is I'm not sure I understand nor can I satisfactorily visualise the
: arrangement. About the only thing I can see is having the ply attached
: somehow under the centre of the hatch cover so the lattice can work as a
: spring either laterally, or longitudinally. Then you can have the ply a
: little larger than the hatch. To get the hatch on, you would need to
: slightly compress the sides of the ply, to make it fit into the hatch
: opening.

: Problem with that visualisation is how you then get the hatch cover off
: again, without breaking the ply. Help me here, am I right off the track?
: Do you have a picture or a sketch to allow my visual brain to
: "get" it? Thanks Ron.

I don't have a drawing. Just a picture in my head.

What I imagine is a latticework piece the shape or slightly longer than the
the oval of the actual hatch opening.

With your fingers grasping through the lattice openings, push this through
the hatch opening and turn it sideways to catch the long dimension under the
short width dimension of the opening (under the hatch cover lip) and have the
lattice lock in place with spring clips or some other wedging mechanism.

The lattice would be a flat surface suspended under the hatch opening.
This lattice would not restrict the magnet loaded hatch cover in any way
but would prevent any cargo from dislodging the hatch cover.

All the best,
Rob Macks
