I don't recall coming across other plans for cedar strip sailboats. That's a beatiful boat - but as you noted, $550 seems outrageous for a set of plans.

I've done some looking into glued lapstrake sailboat plans. If that's of any interest to you, here are a couple of sites you might check out:
