Thanks to all for the great info on my deck bungee connection post. Lots of great info as always. I'll probably try the sheath rollover method and if the results aren't what I want, go to the hog clip method.
Marcel: Thanks for convincing me a couple weeks ago (prior post) that deck lines would be necessary for water re-entry even for day touring. Tried to re-enter without lines and it was way too difficult. I used 5/16 braided rope around the outside so it wouldn't stretch during re-entrys and bungee for the "X" in the middle. I modified your wood bungee "turtle" stays to look like the leaves in my veneer design. Attached pic shows result.
I've not seen any posts on the seat in the picture. I used a hinged plastic fishing seat available from West Marine ($25). It's not as nice looking as all the cedar strip backs that I've seen, but it's comparable in looks to the carved foam seats you've all done. I used one on my ice boat last winter and it was very comfortable even after 6-7 hours of hard, bumpy riding. Preliminary 2-3 hour paddling was VERY comfortable. I put a thin piece (3/8")of closed cell foam from a recycled backpacking pad on the other seat of my double and it was even better. The seat back flips forward to access the bulkhead hatches I went with in lieu of deck hatches. Another idea for you who need seat options. Not to mention...Cheap and Easy.
Thanks again for all the great ideas. Stay tuned!!! Launch pictures next week!!!
