Steve,

The only fix for strain whitening is to remove the affected region - scrape/grind/sand - and apply new glass.

Because there are a number of contributing factors to strain whitening, it is difficult to predict. But since strain is a required condition, minimizing stress is helpful. Stresses could be residual, such as from persuading the hull and deck together, or they could be applied, such as from tight rack straps or clamping forces. Higher strength resins resist strain whitening better than lower strength resins. High temperatures and partial cure will lower the resin strength. Compromised sizing will lower the glass/resin bond strength - but the only thing we can do about sizing is to buy from suppliers that have fresh stock and good storage practices (i.e. buy and hope).
