: Rick,

: I don't know if you have already put on the lip but I didn't try to glass the
: lip on my Guillemot. I glassed on the outside and inside of the riser
: prior to laminating a lip with an ash strip. 5 years later I have had no
: problems with the lip. It was costed in epoxy and varnished but it is
: plenty strong without the glass.

Jack, actually, I do have a layer of 6 oz on both sides of the risers. The first strip of the lip was epoxied in place to the glass, and subsequent strips used yellow glue (Titebond II).

Some of the glue joints are questionable. I didn't worry about it at the time, because I figured it would hold until the glass was laid on, so I feel like I need to put some glass there. But, maybe not on the whole thing... maybe I can get away with the outward face of the lip, the top of the lip, and down into the risers on the inside of the cockpit. If I did that, and just coated the underside of the lip, perhaps that would reinforce it sufficiently?

Rick
