I use 4 oz. cloth. My risers are 1/8", extending 1/4" below the deck and filleted. The risers extend 3/4" above the deck with a 7/8" coaming lip. The coaming lip is two layers of 1/8" plywood glued with epoxy. In fact...all of it is glued with epoxy. I apply a strip of cloth (bias cut for all applications on the coaming) on the filleted portion that extends below the deck and up the riser...no further. Later I apply a strip on top of the coaming and down the riser. Then I apply a strip in the grove of the coaming (which has been previously filleted top and bottom). THEN I apply another strip to the edge of the coaming lip. For the most part I have overlapping 4 oz. cloth on all of the coaming. I let the epoxy cure between each step. Sometimes I can actually do this in two steps...but I don't really worry about doing it that way. It sounds like a lot of work, but it's not too bad. The coaming so far has proven to be Very strong with no give at all. I sit on it all the time. (215 pounds) I use a brush to apply the epoxy and just kind of dab it on rather than stroke. I'm sure others have even better ways of doing this. Have fun....I do.
