I used Rob Mack's method of using a laminated hardwood combing (u-shaped), then used thickened epoxy fillets on inside of lip for strength. I didn't glass any of it & just put several coats of epoxy over whole combing. It's solid as a rock. Not sure if you can do that if you're using WRC or other softer wood for combing. (see simplified illustration)
