I can't think of where we've getting getting the stuff, but we use some very thin neoprene type material to make gaskets for certain hatches, doors, and covers where I work. This stuff is about 1/16" thick, very stretchy and fairly compressible. I may find where it comes from and post that information. I mention it just so you'll know that there are many other materials, and thicknesses, that you can use.
