I replaced my feathercraft rudders with the Sealine system on both a Pygmy Osprey Double and a Pygmy 17' Arctic Tern. I love the footbrace "toe" system and have had no trouble with it. The upright rudder has not proven to be a problem at all (I don't roll, though, or it might be an issue). My old rudders "flopped" up on the deck and were kind of a pain to get positioned on the rudder catch. I have a few dings on the deck from them. But more than that, there was an awkwardness to the getting them up and down because of the momentum problem with rudders like that. The Sealine really shines, in that respect. It is spring loaded. So it pulls up evenly, and you cleat it off. To drop it, just uncleat it and it takes itself down. I've had lots of casual kayakers in my kayak try it and compare it to conventional systems. Everyone seems to like it a lot. And if you trade spots with other folks (like in a double) or just trade kayaks a lot (like I and my partner do), the adjustability of the footbraces can't be beat. That part is brilliant.
