: Wonder where Andrew got the idea for red?
Actually, I think the official name for the color is rehd (in honor of our esteemed cookie baking colleague). We like the color for visibility and for keeping track of the paddlers when our on the bay, and the gang here seems to like the idea of having a fleet of rehd boats. (there is a kayak rental outfit in Poulsbo, so we lots of kayak traffic. Red and yellow are the colors that show up the best -- my old fiberglass boats with a white hull and dark blue deck are all but invisible out there. The thing that is visibile far more effectively that a bright boat color is having white paddle blades, maybe I need to do that too, but I don't think I'm ready to paint my GP quite yet)
