You're probably right to be concerned about big feet. I have the sealline in my Cape Ann which is a pretty high volume boat and it's a tight fit. Now I have size 14 feet, so you would have to factor the boat and bigger feet into the equation I guess. I also mounnted my footpegs to studs inside the boat, I didn't want to drill through the sides of the boat. That meant that I added a thin mounting board that I could mount the pegs to and then bolt that assembly to the studs. My mounting board is about 2 1/2 inches by 16 inches and 1/4 inch thick. I carbon fibered the whole thing to get it stiff enough. That whole arrangement though does push the pedal assembly out toward the center of the boat a bit, probably a half inch or so on each side. That certainly contributes to the tight quarters for me.

Intially, I had a problem in that the one of the studs released from the inner hull. I had only attached it with some putty and a 2 inch square of fiberglass. I reattached it with some more epoxy putty and a 6 inch square of glass and another 4 inch piece on top of that. I let it cure for a couple of days and reassembled and haven't had any more problems. I'll have to do the other side, but have too busy paddling to be bothered with it. If it doesn't end up working, then I guess I'll drill the hull....

I haven't had any problems with durability, but I'm not a racer and so may not be putting the pressures on it that a racer would. I had a friend roll the boat and I didn't see any problems with the rudder. I had been a bit concerned that the water pressure might bend it or damage it in some way. He didn't seem to have any trouble rolling the boat, so I don't believe it hindered him either.

Overall, I really like the system, I find myself only using the rudder itself on windy days or if the current seems to pulling my boat around. But when I do, it is really nice to have the combination of a study brace and the toe pedal for course correction.
