I've done something similar (a great way to get them out of the way) and I do recommend you try and remove any solid colour banding tape you may be using to hold bundles of strips together - I noticed it only took a short time for the colour of the wood to change where ever I had masking tape holding the bundles together - in my case it was natural light coming in a window that affected them & maybe flourescent lights wouldn't affect them, but I wouldn't want to take a chance given a solution is very easy. String solved the problem.
