: I've done something similar (a great way to get them out of the way) and I do
: recommend you try and remove any solid colour banding tape you may be
: using to hold bundles of strips together - I noticed it only took a short
: time for the colour of the wood to change where ever I had masking tape
: holding the bundles together - in my case it was natural light coming in a
: window that affected them & maybe flourescent lights wouldn't affect
: them, but I wouldn't want to take a chance given a solution is very easy.
: String solved the problem.
Ya... Flourescent lights have a good amount of UV. That does discolor wood, & the longer they are exposed, the deeper the discoloration, After a while the color change is deeper & will not sand off unless ya sand deep. Sun light is MUCH harsher, Direct sun will discolor unprotected wood in hours.
The PVC tube idea is great, carpet comes on 12' to 15' carboard rolls that will protect your strips.... I would. ( At least the ones I don't step on.)
