3' seas is impressive! If you were an expert, it would be difficult to say that a beginner might be comfortable in the same boat in the same conditions.

That you've only been paddling two seasons (and of a similar size as John) says that it's a pretty comfortable boat in the rough.

My first kayak was a Chesapeake 17, and it was pretty comfortable in up to 2' chop. Above that, and it was a little too blocky and twitchy. It was also a little big for me (6'-6", 185 lbs. and I couldn't effectively lean or edge it)

: I'd say I'm an advanced beginner. I took one class last year and paddled a
: bunch in my Sit on Top last year (80-100 hours). I have probably paddled
: the Cirrus a total of 40 hours so far and all of that with a Greenland
: paddle. I am comfortable in the water and am a strong swimmer. I would say
: that I'm an aggresive learner and thrive on this kind of thing.

: I'd be interested in how you'd use this info along with my abbreviated review
: of the Cirrus to recommend or disuade someone from a kayak design. Just
: wondering about process I'm not being smart.

: Best, Dave
