Certainly the kayak is one of the most seaworthy of small craft. The seaworthiness of the kayak/paddler system is largely dependent on the skill of the paddler!

Sounds like the boat didn't really hold you back, and you can definitely move upwards with it.

I find rough water paddling to be scary, enjoyable, challenging, and a great sense of accomplishment all at once. Take baby steps into bigger and bigger water, learn, live, enjoy, and return to paddle rougher waters the next day!
