I like the way you can search for all your own posts to review what advice you've received in the past (if you don't print out the entire thread or save the links).

I just poked around at my late June posts concerning a recessed coaming. I thought at the time that I would be building the coaming the following weekend but a big job at work and a little change in building steps resulted in the lapse of 40 days or so.

I finished sanding my deck and feathering tape today in preparation for glassing tommorrow. So next weekend looks like the start of the coaming process. I haven't been this undecided on a part of the building process yet but for some reason the coaming has been a source of indecision for me. I have scrapped my squared recess idea...too many cons, not enough pros. I have to go check out wood types at Home Depot. Marcel had posted that he used WRC and common Fir from Home Depot and that sounds like a plan to me. Terry H. mentioned a process for using ash strips as the lip and I think I'll pursue that too. Shawn Baker's recess seems like the one to do since it is sloped. I will probably poke around some websites again this week just to familiarize myself again with what I will need. Gotta go to Steve's site and see that glue bottle pic so I know what glue to buy!

Anyway, no real questions. Just thought I'd let the people who advised me know that I plan to be into it soon and believe it or not I will take photos for posting. I have a roll of film now from just prior to the hull taping and glassing that I will develop/scan/post soon.

I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel on this kayak project. I am hoping that the coaming will be a one weekend project. This should allow me to launch just at the first of September.
