Yes...I have used it...and I bought it at lowe's as well. I believe it has limited use in building a kayak. It is a light, white wood, but tends to string, or fuzz, quite badly when you sand it. Once you get it sanded and sealed with epoxy it starts to behave a little better. It will work, but it's not one of my first choices. The WRC sold by Home Depot in my area seems to be MUCH better quality than what Lowe's sells. Even then I have to pick through and get only 1 out of possibly every 10 boards that are suitable. I have found a good source of redwood. Some have questioned whether it is suitable but I've been using it for more than 30 years with no problems. I will say that you need to know which board to use when using redwood. Some of it is brittle and splits easily. C and better white pine works pretty good...but...again...you need to pick your boards. Most of the clear pine sold at Home Depot and Lowe's is crap...for building boats. Grain orientation is pretty important in picking wood for boats. Usually you'll want flat sawn, or quarter sawn...depends on what you are planning on doing. The aspen will not stay a pristine white. Epoxy tends to darken everything. Some epoxies are clearer than others...but...still... Have fun.
