Hi Jim:

I think Nimbus makes the seat. Not sure. I got it through Chesapeake Light Craft, and its called a "Creature Comfort." I used it for about 3 years and like it a lot. I think the longest I've been in it without getting out to stretch my legs is 3 hours or a bit more, and I've done fine. Although its a good seat, I'm exploring options for better back support (hence my post last week about the NSI backband, which turns out to be too large for the low, recessed deck of the Tern 14). I've now have and have tried one of the pre-sculpted minicell seats available through Redfish kayaks. It is deeper than the Creature Comfort, more comfortable (although I haven't been out in it for more than an hour at a time yet), and seems more like a custom fit. So far, I think I can say I like it better than the Creature Comfort. But I haven't figured out whether I want to carve minicell back/hip brace pieces, try some other backbands, or quite what. In the meantime, the Creature Comfort suits me fine, and I've yet to have anyone else use one (we have them in an Osprey Double, too) that hasn't been comfortable in it.

Hey, Jim, I owe you some thanks too. I was poking around on your website a while back and saw the small round white foam roller you used for epoxy. On my last round of fill coat on the deck, I opened up a pack of rollers I got when I ordered some supplies--a generic brand of rollers I had never tried--and didn't like them at all (too spongy, instantly full of foam, even though they were the yellow, thin types that usually work well). So I ran down to the local paint store, spotted one of the foam rollers that I saw on your web, and thought, "Well, if Jim Kozel likes them, they're probably good." Sure enough, the one I got was great. The refills (which they were out of) are a bit spendy. But I have to say it was better than even West's foam rollers, and those are the best I've ever used. So, thanks for the tip, even if you didn't know I got it from you.
