Hi Scott, I kind of know how you feel... you want it to be a really special, great boat but you're maybe a little apprehensive about stepping too far outside "the box". I've had a feeling of paralysis from that on more than one occaision. I may be totally wrong but it sounds like you are suffering from that.

Here is my suggestion: The boat is not going to be perfect. It's not going to be a dog either. Why do you say it is the last boat you'll ever build? Give yourself a break and allow the possibility that it won't be perfect but who really cares - it will be a fun/cool thing despite almost any eventuallity. Just have fun with it - wherever that may take you

As far as the modifications: others have done it successfully so why shouldn't you be able to pull it off?
