Ken, well, at the moment I'm using left over strips laid flat around the cockpit with strip pieces running parallel to the deck stripping. No recess - too scared to try that. I didn't feel confortable with either Ted's (didn't like the peak on the centerline) or Nick's (didn't trust my hot gluing skills) methods so I started playing with small strips as a mock up. One think lead to another and I started gluing them together. I have two layers of the cedar strips and started putting a layer of 3/16" ash for the lip. I'll need to add another layer of the cedar strips and also another layer of the ash before attaching to the deck. Everything is B&C'ed so the contour matches the deck.
