: I don't have any pics, maybe I can take some if you need em. Your plan is
: good. Don't fit the flanges til all inside work, including the bulkheads,
: is done, since flanges of course narrow the opening. I also did end-up end
: pours.

: I do wish I had located the forward hatch just a bit further aft so that its
: opening could be a little wider -- both for packing, and for working on
: the @#%*& forward bulkhead.

: Once you install flanges, make sure they're sanded and epoxied very smooth,
: and don't forget to put something over the strap bolt shafts (acorn nuts,
: rubber nubs, plastic tubing) to protect your packs and your hands.

: After installation, I wiped the seal with "303" to protect the
: rubber. I have never seen a trace of leakage, maybe the 303 helps seal the
: seal--?

Bill-
Thanks for the advice. I really didn't think ahead about the flanges making the opening narrower and thus more difficult to do the inside work.

How far forward of the foot peg rails did you install your bulkhead? I would like to put mine just in front of the rails to maximize storage space.

One more question: Did you have to trim the flanges in order to get the edges of the hatch the recommended 7/8" from the deck chine?

Thanks again, cutting holes in the deck of boat is pretty nerve racking for me!
