: Hello Everyone,
: For those of you that have the Seal-Line footbraces installed in a stripper,
: how did you do it? Did you use elongated screws, or will this idea work:
: Screw the footbraces into a cedar strip, with the screw mounted flush.
: Epoxy the cedar strip to the hull with lots of thickener.
: The doggone screws are too short to go through the 1/4" hull, and I hate
: to have screw heads on the outside of the boat. I was thinking I could
: install studs, but did not realize these are screw mounted. Any
: suggestions? I need to get these installed by Sunday.
: Thanks,
: Malcolm
I haven't used the Seal-Line but here is another thought that would make it easily removable since they seem to fail occasionally.
Fasten the footbrace to a strip that is 2" longer than the the brace, then put holes 1/2" from each end to mate up to hull mounted t-nuts. If you can not get t-nuts in the islands you might consider epoxying studs. Hope this makes sense.
