1. Because you can

2. So that you can tell your friends (okay, ex-friends) that you did

3. To impress your kids ("Gee, Dad's not such a stick in the mud afterall.... he's just a looney tune!)

We're just talking about cooking, right? I wouldn't actually have to eat it? :-)

Oh, I have to admit. I was once camping with a very drunk friend (not a wilderness trip, just young dumb boys out in the woods) who thickened his stew with dirt. He ate it, too, but the rest of us stuck to our twinkies and potato chips. He says it wasn't all that bad, but 20 years later, he still hasn't made it again. Go figure :-)
