: Hi all,
: My Guillemot is getting closer to being finished.
: I am starting to think about the odds and ends. Pardon the pun, as I am
: asking where I should drill the holes for the toggle ropes. How far aft of
: the bow and down from the deck peak?
: I am thinking 2-3" aft and about the seam line to take advantage of the
: extra glass(the tape) in that area. Any opinions are apreciated.
: Andrew
: ps If the weather cooperates I want to do my end pours tomorrow.
Hey Andrew,
You can put the holes any where you like. Just remember, if your going to be running the rope thru the endpours, the farther from the tip of the boat you drill the holes, the more epoxy you have to add to get past the holes.
On the "L" that I'm working on now, I drilled the holes 5" from the ends and 1" below the sheer line. I think most people put them closer to the ends, but I wanted to go thru a little more meat than that . . just personal preference. I put them 9" from the ends (not knowing any better) on my wife's Guilly, But thats way too far from the ends.
Happy Building.
Charles.
