: I'm ready to start varnishing my Night Heron, and would like to hear some
: creative solutions to my problem. Short of skewering the boat so that it
: can be rotated like its on a spit, does anyone have any ideas about ways
: to apply a full coat of varnish to the entire boat in one application
: instead of having to wait for the top half to dry before turning the boat
: over to do the bottom half? If there were a nautical equivalent to Car
: Talk, this strikes me as a good puzzler!
If you used toggle holes on the ends of your boat, you can do just that... Skewer it..
Take some saw horses, put two boards on each one, on the ends, up about 24" and cut "U" shapes in the end. Then get dowels that will fit into the toggle holes and long enough to reach both sides of the sawhorse extentions. Clamp a little block or something on each side of the toggle hole so the boat won't slip off the dowel when rotated and there you have it.
