Hey Robert,
I agree! $100 is a lot. That was my ORIGINAL game plan. But from what you and others have done, I think I'll re-think that idea. Actually, I'm planning on gluing the foam to a piece of 1/4" plywood which will set on a rail(of sorts) which is epoxied to the bottom of the hull. The Schade style footrest will also be attached to the rail. I'm attempting to make an adjustable seat that I can adjust with ease while in the seat. I believe the 1" foam will work well as the plywood is bent to conform to the shape of the hull. I'll just need to change my plan a little concerning the hip braces . . no problem there.
I'll be moving my daughter up to the Baltimore area in a week or so, so maybe I can locate a yak shop that carries minicell while I'm there. Should be lots of shops around the Chesapeake Bay.
