Randy,

I use 3/4" X .049wall (6061-T6) grade aluminum with 5/8" X .049
wall inserts ( 5 to 6 inches long). In the US, these sizes are
readily available just about everywhere, with costs in the $1.00
to $1.50 per foot range depending on the total footage. Dyson,
Baidarka, and Company in Bellingham, Wa. is a very good source
as they charge about $1.00 per foot regardless of the amount
purchase.

My section lengths vary by boat. The Sea Rider has three sections
with the center being 6ft and the ends making up the difference
at 5ft+. I've used as many as 5 sections per boat with lengths
as short as 40inches.

Rivets are Home Depot or Lowe's standard. I use mostly aluminum
1/8" X medium reach rivets. I normally use 2 rivets per insert.

All in all, nothing too exotic. Thanks for asking.

Tom
