Hi Charles, I had some of the same questions going into R2K3. I was a little surprised at the weights of some of these boats; there appears to be quite a bit of weight in the frame and also in the waterproof coatings. I'm just starting to research it myself... I will probably underbuild my frame and then reinforce each stick with glass or CF. I'm still trying to figure out which fabric to use for optimal weight.
