: Looks good too. So you're pleased with both the install and function. I'm
: thinking about adding one to the wifes Osprey (When I get around to
: finishing it :D ). What was the total damage for the whole ball of wax??

Thanks Larry,

They had it on sale at paddler.com, but they are undergoing a site rebuild and changing to rutabaga.com. I believe I paid $231 with international shipping. Shop around. I actually found it a bit cheaper after I bought it, but I regret I didn't write down the site. I did a search on MSN for "Seal-Line foot brace."
I am very happy with it. The toe rudder control takes a little getting used to unless you have a Surfski with pedal controls. It's similar to steering with a pedal. This Saturday we are doing a 20 mile paddle and I hope to have rough seas to play in and give her a good test.

The install was a cinch. The whole footbrace as seen in the photo comes prewired, preassembled. All you do is drill the two holes per side to mount them, and run the cables to the rudder. The cables wedge into the rudder without tools, and then you put a piece of shrink tubing on to keep it all neat. The rudder has a spring in it. The knob you see on the rudder is used to preload the spring to the desired tension, and then a carter pin locks it in place. The two cable connections also go in with a carter pin. That's about it other than drilling the holes, and running the downhaul. It comes with a cam cleat for the downhaul.

Best Regards,

Malcolm
